“A rich experience and wonderful guide”
Reviewed February 15, 2014
My partner, his parents and I hired Sopheap for 4 days on our most recent visit to Cambodia. Sopheap met us at the airport with a friendly welcome and then we spent 3 very enjoyable days touring the temples of the Angkor region and seeing a fishing village on stilts on Tonle Sap lake. On the last day Sopheap accompanied us to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat and then drove us to Phnom Penh. He is a very safe driver and remained calm, friendly and with a sense of humour despite the eight hour drive and after the early start at 5:30am! He was also very responsive in pulling over for good photo opportunities.
Sopheap (Prem) is very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of the temples around Siem Reap and he did a great job taking us to the temples in a nice order to appreciate their differences, and to avoid the busiest times or spots for tourists. As a result although it was the high season it was still peaceful and enjoyable for us to visit the temples and he never rushed us, waiting patiently as we explored. He also knew some lovely features and carvings of the temples to point out and always had suggestions for good photos. Our visits were well timed and we felt we had enough time to see each temple and saw a good diversity of the temples in the area.
Sopheap is flexible and kind and did everything we could ask, including helping us race to a temple to catch the sunset just in time and helping us find services around Siem Reap. He is always ready with a useful recommendation of what is good to see nearby depending on your schedule and desires, and is honest about what is and is not possible to fit in depending on your schedule so you can have choices.
Thank you very much for teaching us so much about Siem Reap, the temples of Angkor and Cambodia Sopheap! We had a great experience. I highly recommend Sopheap as a driver and guide to anyone travelling to these areas.in Aussie speak - Brem rocks.

“Excellent guide!”

My parents and I hired Sopheap for two days in Siem Reap, and we had a great experience. Sopheap met us at the REP airport and drove us to our hotel for check-in. He was always kind and understanding, and he is extremely knowledgeable. I asked him questions (from temples to termite hills), and he showed detailed insight about any subject. Most importantly, he answered questions with brutal honesty, even when discussing the many challenges of Cambodia's developing government and infrastructure. Sopheap also noticed my love of photography and made a conscious effort to show me ideal locations for great photos. I would highly recommend him!

“Three days of wonderful tours”
Reviewed February 22, 2014
We hired Sopheap for 3 days of tours in and around Siem Reap, after some emailing (with very prompt responses to my queries) and great suggestions from him. He is very friendly, has a great sense of humour, and his knowledge of the temples was quite astounding! As my husband is an avid photographer, Sopheap knew plenty of places for great shots. We opted one morning for dawn at Angkor Wat, which was magical, and because we had plenty of time, we also made effort to get out of town to see a few other temples that not everyone can get to. So glad we did that. Had the chance to chat to farmers in the field harvesting rice, and we (unintentionally) entertained them with our own efforts of cutting – we were NOT very good!
Sopheap was flexible in what we wanted to do, and was patient when we wanted to take a bit longer at some places. He even helped us out by taking us to the post office and translating when we wanted to send some items home.
We had a delightful experience of this part of the world, thanks to Sopheap and our driver, Pasit (spelling?).
[Side note: we actually visited in December 2012, but the 'when did you visit' drop down menu didn't offer that as an option. I am reposting this review as Sopheap has now formed his own company, and I wanted him to get the attention he deserves under his new listing.]

“Excellent and informative tour guide”
Reviewed November 1, 2013
If you are looking for an English speaking tour guide who is passionate about his country and really knows his stuff - look no further -Hire Sopheap! We were in Siem Reap for 3 nights. We had pre-arranged 2 days of private tours with Sopheap. He made suggestions and helped us decide on which were the most important sights for us. He took a real interest in what we wanted and organized the tour accordingly. He picked us up in his air conditioned car - which was so helpful on 33 degree weather days, had cool towels for us when we finished hours of touring the temples, and a supply of fresh, cool water!
Sopheap is very professional, knowledgeable and guided us to the right places at the right times - we were most often without big crowds around us. Our first day with Sopheap was a 5 am pick up for Angkor Wat sunrise! Beautiful and well worth it. I strongly recommend eating where he recommends while touring - under these tents had some of the most delicious Khmer food we had all trip. Day 2 we started with a tour of the Angkor Artisans, followed by a long drive through the countryside. - fascinating and informative - towards Beng Mealea Wat - consumed by the jungle! It was here we learned that Sopheap is also an excellent photographer! After this tour we went for another great meal, before heading to the floating village.
Everything was organized beautifully. Sopheap made everything very easy. He gave us lots of information, but also knew when to give us quiet time for taking in the sights and taking pictures. He is a lovely man, who also has a great sense of humour!
I would highly recommend Sopheap as a tour guide. He was recommended to us and we were so glad to have met him. His prices are very reasonable. He was also happy to answer our questions about surviving in the old town - places to eat, how to fend off the sellers, and even prices. I honestly don't think I would have enjoyed this trip without him!

Me and my friend went to cambodia last august of this year for 3 days. Going to a foreign country and not knowing anybody is a bit scary because you don't know
what to expect. Will it be safe for us to walk around. It just happened that my cousins' friend recommended a tourist guide which is sopheap and gave me his email address. It was a day before our flight, which is a very short notice for sopheap that is why i am worried that i won't get a reply from him but i did! He said that he cannot accomodate us for his group tour coz it's already full, but not to worry. He helped us to get another recommended tour guide. I really appreciated his help and i would really recommend him. Thank you sopheap for your help :)

We travelled to Cambodia in November 2012. We would highly recommend Sophiap Prem,he proved to be a really excellent guide and a really lovely and gentle person as well.an We had contacted Sophiap after reading Tripadvisor recommendations. whilst we were planning our trip. He suggested that we plan for a week in Angkor rather than the three or four days we had originally thought. We were glad he did because this allowed us to visit some of the distant and less well visited temples which was very worthwhile. He is very knowledgable about all the temples and their history and he was very patient explaining the history and who had built which temple to us several times over the week so that we could put everything into its historical context. We visited the Angor complex several times which allowed us to see at different times of the day which helped us with our photographs. He also took us to the mountains where the stones were quarried. We really enjoyed the week in Angkor and felt that Sophiap really contributed to what was for us an amazing experience
Sophiap also was our guide at Battambang with its temples, again he was very knowledgable on these temples and on the area,
We cannot rate Sophiap highly enough as a very knowledgable and helpful guide,

“Excellent and Informative Tour! Would recommend to everyone!”

My friend and I were in Siem Reap for just a few days in August and we did a full private day tour of Angkor Wat with Sopheap at a very reasonable rate. He picked us up very early from our guesthouse and brought us to a secluded temple to watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat, there were only two other people there and it was spectacular. The rest of the day was so much fun, we learnt so much from Sopheap and had fantastic time with him.
My friend, who had already toured Angkor Wat two times, made special requests to go to temples far off the beaten trail; Sopheap was very accommodating to our requests and still managed to fit in all the must-see temples at a very comfortable pace. He knows every temple inside and out and was incredibly knowledgeable. My friend said the tour with Sopheap far exceeded his previous visits.
My day tour of Angkor Wat with Sopheap was the best day of my trip throughout Cambodia, and one of the best days of my life. He was an incredible tour guide and I would recommend him to everyone. Whether you are are solo, with friends, a couple or a family, Sopheap will provide an excellent day tour for you at an excellent rate.
